Steel forms for road slabs. Formwork for airfield slabs
Road slabs are products made of heavy reinforced concrete, indispensable for the construction of high-quality roadways (including airfields), as well as for the construction of temporary and permanent roads.
Concrete road slabs have proved to be reliable and durable structures for a wide range of applications.
Types of road slabs
Road slabs differ in purpose and configuration, which is reflected in the marking.
Letter designations in the markings indicate the road slab configuration, namely:
- rectangular (P);
- trapezoidal (PT);
- hexagonal (PSh).
In accordance with GOST, road slabs differ in purpose and configuration, which is reflected in the marking. Road slabs intended for the construction of permanent roads are marked with the number “1”, while those intended for the construction of temporary roads are marked with the number “2”.
Letter designations in the markings indicate the road slab configuration, namely: rectangular (P), trapezoidal (PT) ,and hexagonal (PSh).
The P and PSh slab configurations also are divided into standardized sub-types:
- PB — rectangular slab with a bead along the long side;
- PBB — rectangular slab with two beads along the short sides;
- PShD — hexagonal slab with axial diagonal orientation;
- PShP — hexagonal slab with axial transverse orientation;
- DPSh — hexagonal paving slab halved diagonally;
- PPSh — hexagonal paving slab halved across.
The most popular are 1P and 2P road slabs (PDN — 2P30.18, 1P30.18), which are most often used in road construction.
2P30.18, 1P30.18
Slabs of 2P30.18 and 1P30.18 types (GOST 21924-84) are most often used in road construction. Road slabs intended for the construction of permanent roads are marked with the number “1”, while those intended for the construction of temporary roads are marked with the number “2”.
For their manufacture, metal forms with tension-free reinforcement are used.
The geometric parameters of the 2P 30.18.30 road slabs shall not deviate from the design parameters by more than ±10 mm in length, ±4 mm in width and 10 mm in straightness (for slabs used for the construction of temporary roads, the maximum deviation is less strict). Release strength of concrete is 70% of the design value (90% in winter).
PDN-14, PDN-16, PDN-18
Slabs for construction of permanent roads with prestressed reinforcement. Hundreds of kilometers of Russian roads have been built of reinforced concrete slabs.
These expensive panels make it possible to build strong and stable road surfaces. Today, leading factories produce hundreds of options for road paving slabs, but the rethought Soviet GOST option is considered the best.
GOST R 56600-2015 establishes strict parameters for the geometric conformity of slab products. In particular, the geometric parameters of the PDN 18 road slabs shall not deviate from the design values by more than ±10 mm in length, ±4 mm in width and 10 mm in straightness (for slabs used for the construction of temporary roads, the maximum deviation is less strict). PAG 14, PAG-18, PAG-20 The third type is smooth airfield slabs
PAG-14, PAG-18, PAG-20
These airfield slabs are used for paving runways, roads with heavy traffic of heavy vehicles, and industrial areas.
As compared to asphalt, which is destroyed almost instantly in these cases, smooth airfield slabs will serve for many years. This reduces the cost of repair and maintenance of facilities.
These slabs are distinguished by a high working momentary load of 75 tons per square meter (at a temperature of -60°C).
PAG — smooth airfield slab. The numbers 14, 18 and 20 indicate the slab thickness in centimeters.
